The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) proposes FMVSS No. 305a, upgrading electric vehicle safety regulations, including heavy vehicles like school buses. Comments accepted until June 14.
Deaths caused by speeding accounted for almost one-third of all traffic fatalities.
The new rule, proposed by the NHTSA and FMCSA, each year is projected to save 155 lives, stop 19,000 crashes, and prevent thousands of injuries.
